55° negative rake insert holder Feature
- Achieves rake angle (relief) by tilting the cutter rather than by angling side of insert
- Provides four interchangeable cutting surfaces instead of two for longer life
- Tool is supported all the way down to the table for high rigidity
- One carbide insert, Torx Screw and Torx wrench included
- Additional carbide inserts available as P/N 7612
Most carbide inserted tip tools that are held parallel to the table must have relief made into them so they dont rub on the part. This means only the top surfaces can be used for cutting. By tilting the insert downward, relief is created even on an insert with square sides. This means the insert can be used on both ends of the top, and then it can be flipped over and used again on both ends of the bottom. This makes four cutting surface instead of two for better economy. By supporting the tip all the way down to the table, enough rigidity is designed in to support a tip of this type. One insert, a Torx screw to hold it in place and a Torx wrench to adjust it are included. Designed for use on Sherline lathes only.
